How to work it out yourself

attend at least = ⌈ held × 0.75 ⌉

can miss in total = ⌊ held × 0.25 ⌋

With 30 classes held: 30 × 0.75 = 22.5, rounded up to 23 attended, so up to 7 missed. If you have attended 24, you are at 80% and can miss 2 more: 24 of 32 is exactly 75%.

Where the 75% rule comes from

75% is a common minimum at universities and colleges, especially in India, but it is set by each institution, and some ask for 80% or 85%. If yours uses a different number, change the target in the attendance calculator.

Common questions

How do I calculate 75% of my classes?

Multiply the classes held by 0.75 and round up. For 48 classes held: 48 × 0.75 = 36, so you must have attended at least 36.

Is 74.5% rounded up to 75%?

Only if your college says so. Many attendance systems compare the exact percentage with 75 and do not round, so treat 74.5% as below the limit unless your rules say otherwise.

How many classes can I miss out of 60 for 75%?

15. You must attend at least 45 of 60 (60 × 0.75).

What happens if my attendance is below 75%?

It depends on your institution. Common outcomes are a warning, a fine or a condonation request, or not being allowed to sit the end-of-semester exam. Check your college's rules.
